iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad
The latest, and could be greatest Twitter client app has hit the App Store. In development for many many months, Tweetbot from Tapbots is finally here. In my few hours in testing it, I'm really impressed. While it's not revolutionary, it does do just about everything right. I can already tell that it's going to be my new client of choice.
All the standard features are here, along with some interesting new interactions that speed up your use of Twitter. Tweetbot also has a new and interesting way to handle lists. By clicking on the Timeline header, you can select to view your main timeline or any of your lists or lists you subscribe to.
So far my favorite feature is the way you get to the conversation view. Simply swipe to the right to pull up the conversation - it works quickly and easilyy. Tweetbot does not offer push notifications, but it does already integrate with the great Boxcar.
If you're looking for a new Twitter client, Tweetbot looks like a great option. We'll have a full review soon.

If you’ve used the official Twitter app on iOS, you’ll probably agree that there is much to be desired. While yes, it has improved better in recent years, at least for me, it still seems a bit clunky to use.
Well, for us tweetaholics, there is hope. App developer Tapbots recently released the fourth version of their popular Twitter client for iOS, called Tweetbot 4.
Right now, it’s on sale in the App Store for $4.99, and after the launch promotion ends, it’ll cost $9.99. If you think it’s absolutely crazy to pay for a Twitter app when you can use the official app for free, then this article probably isn’t for you.
But if you’re frequently on Twitter and access it from your mobile device several times per day, then keep reading, because there are some serious benefits to shelling out a few bucks for this new app.

Okay, let’s take a look at Tweetbot 4!
Setup
Tweetbot easily connects to multiple Twitter accounts, and the setup workflow is quick and simple. One of the key things I look for when comparing two similar apps, is how many taps I can save on one versus the other.
For instance, when adding a new account via the official Twitter app, it takes four taps from the home stream. With Tweetbot 4, it takes only two taps, from any screen. While this might not seem like a big deal to most folks, these little efficiencies add up to make Tweetbot the superior app.

Customization
Once you have all of your Twitter accounts added, it’s time to start customizing! This is another area where Tweetbot 4 really shines.

You can customize the font, text size, display name of other users, image thumbnail size, avatar display, date format, and more.
The display settings in the official Twitter app are much more limited. Yes, you can increase the text size, but that’s about it.
Oh, and there is a pretty cool night mode built into Tweetbot 4. Here’s how the developers describe it:
If you spend a lot of time reading twitter in low light, night mode will be much easier on your eyes. Automatically switch based on ambient lighting or toggle manually by swiping 2 fingers up or down in the app.
Reading
The timeline in Tweetbot 4 is much more streamlined and free from clutter when compared to the official Twitter app. But don’t take my word for it. Below are two screenshots to compare each app.
Similarly, the mentions and messages streams are clean and easy to navigate in Tweetbot 4. Personally, I don’t like seeing who follows me or who retweets me in my mentions stream. That just adds too much noise. I only want to see mentions.
While you can accomplish this with either app, there is a limitation within the official Twitter app. If you have “mentions only” selected for your notifications stream in the official Twitter app, it won’t show a “quote tweet.” On the other hand, Tweetbot 4 will show it along with all of your other mentions.
I find that a lot of folks are starting to use quote tweets to reply, instead of using a typical @mention. So, you’re bound to miss this if you’re using the official Twitter app. Again, not a big deal to the average Twitter user, but for the tweetaholics out there, you’ll see the value.
Engagement
Wireframesketcher 6 2 15. Tweetbot 4 also contains some interesting swipe actions that make favoriting or replying to a tweet as easy as can be. I’m surprised that the official Twitter app still has not taken advantage of similar functionality.
As for saving article links to read later, Tweetbot allows you to save to services such as Pocket (my favorite), Instapaper, Pinboard, and more with just three taps.
Tweetbot Mac
The official Twitter app doesn’t offer embedded “read later” functionality, but you can save links via the native iOS share menu. Oh, but it’ll cost you an extra tap. That’s right, Tweetbot 4 saves you time once again.

Conclusion
There are several other interesting features of Tweetbot 4 that I haven’t mentioned. The sounds, the animations, and even the icons are all meticulously crafted to create an experience that is truly unique to this app.
The bottom line is that if you’re looking for a solid iOS app for Twitter than improves upon almost all of the basic features of the official Twitter app and removes most of the garbage, then Tweetbot 4 is totally worth the price.
